PUBG: Battlegrounds has started reaching 80.000 new players daily since it started free-to-play earlier this year.
Confirming the new figures in its latest financial report, developer/publisher Krafton announced that although both operating profit and revenue decreased 6,9 percent and 7,8 percent, respectively, the company's net profit increased 37 percent compared to the same quarter last year.
94 percent of Battle Royale's revenue comes from outside of South Korea, where the game is made.

In the company statement, “PUBG: Battleground, available on PC and consoles, recently celebrated its fifth anniversary. Switching to a free-to-play business model in January 2022, the game saw more than 80.000 new user logins per day. Accordingly, the average revenue per user (ARPU) across all platforms increased by more than 20 percent. [on a quarterly basis]. International markets (except South Korea) provided 2022 percent of gaming revenue in the second quarter of 94.” said.
The company also announced that it has taken strict measures against cheats to ensure a fairer game for everyone, and that the mobile version of PUBG, called New State Mobile, continues to evolve and refocuses the way it maintains live service.
While not providing specific figures, Krafton also reported that New State's total playing time and frequency of play also increased in the second quarter of 2022.
PUBG Battlegrounds developer Krafton recently announced that it has made a new game based on the Korean fantasy book The Bird That Drinks Tears.
Krafton says this is “an ambitious project that aims to bring the original fantasy universe of The Bird That Drinks Tears to life, with its unique and refreshing fantasy races, beautiful, haunting landscapes, gripping and touching stories.
