QuakeCon, the annual community event celebrating Bethesda Softworks and id Software's video game franchises, returns this August. Like last year's event, QuakeCon 2022 will be digital-only, meaning there's no in-person convention and no BYOC (bring your own computer) LAN party.

QuakeCon 2022 will take place August 18-20 and will likely stream on Twitch.

In a statement posted today on Bethesda's QuakeCon page, the company said it's committed to bringing QuakeCon back as an in-person festival in 2023, even though this year's event is digital-only. QuakeCon 2020 and QuakeCon 2021 have been online-only events in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

“Like you, we were disappointed that we couldn't return to Dallas this year,” Bethesda said.

QuakeCon 2022 will feature a virtual BYOC party, including livestream schedules, online meetups, giveaways, charity events. Bethesda has announced that more details on this year's event will be coming in June.

Bethesda Softworks' confirmed roster includes Arkane Austin's open-world vampire-themed shooter Redfall and Bethesda Game Studios' space exploration role-playing game Starfield. id Software is reportedly working on a "long-running action FPS" that could also come by a new Doom, Quake, or other name.
