Exclusive to Oculus Quest 2, the game is getting comfort and content updates next year.
Resident Evil 2 VR, currently exclusive to Meta's Oculus Quest 4, is receiving a free content update in 2022 that will add the highly requested Mercenaries mode.
Meta and Capcom have not narrowed down a window for when the update will be released, but have confirmed that work on The Mercenaries for a VR adaptation is currently in the works. Mercenaries, like any other mod in the core Resident Evil games, turns horror action into more arcade events and pits you against an endless horde of enemies you need to survive as the countdown to extraction ticks counts.
Additional comfort options are also being worked on for an update in 2022. These will include new options that add hand steering, make left-handed play more comfortable, and allow players to adjust Leon's in-game chest and waist height. to make inventory management a little more flexible.
Meta and Capcom have been extremely happy with the success of Resident Evil 4 VR so far, and the game has managed to be the fastest selling app on the Oculus Store in all of Quest history. It's exclusive to Meta's latest standalone headset, though, with no word on a port for the original Quest.
Resident Evil 4 VR manages to reinvigorate the classic third-person horror game in a variety of ways, giving existing and new fans alike a good reason to check out one of the most influential horror games of all time.
