The virtual reality port was announced at the Resident Evil Showcase in April.

Many of the game's objects and menus have been reworked to flow better with a VR setup. The classic pause screen is fully interactive, can pick up weapons and items and rearrange them freely. Weapons are also captured from the outside of the body rather than from a menu - weapons can be picked up from the waist, while healing items are grabbed from the left shoulder and a stab from the chest.

There also seem to be a few different options for movement. You can choose to play standing or sitting and move around with the analog stick or teleporting Leon. Spin capture and quick spin options are also available, which is always handy.

According to a hands-on preview from IGN, some transitions, from first-person view of Leon to watching him climb a ladder in third-person, can be cumbersome and take some getting used to where your stuff is on your body. . But overall it looks like a good time and a nice way to refresh a 16 year old game. It's also the first Resident Evil VR experience to reach PC — Resident Evil 7 was embellished with virtual reality, but unfortunately kept exclusively for PlayStation VR users.

Resident Evil 4 VR will launch on October 21 and is exclusive to Oculus Quest 2.
