Riot Games announced on Monday that it will pay $80 million for women who face harassment and discrimination in the workplace while working against the company, and $20 million for attorneys' fees and miscellaneous expenses. has agreed to be tracked by a third party.

While this agreement has been ratified by both parties, it has not yet been ratified in court. According to the statement, this will happen during a trial "in the coming months". This settlement comes after the initial $2 million deal was withdrawn on December 2019, 10, due to DFEH's complaints that the amount was too low.

The lawsuit, which began in 2018 following a report by Kotaku about "sister culture" in California-based Santa Monica, has seen many twists and turns over the past three years. Riot's response to allegations and employee feedback has also changed.

“As a company, we stood at a crossroads; We can deny or apologize for our culture's shortcomings, correct course and build a better Riot. We chose the latter,” Riot said in the statement. “We are incredibly grateful to every Rioter who works to create a culture where inclusion is the norm, where we are deeply committed to justice and equality, and where embracing diversity fuels creativity and innovation.

“While we are proud of how far we have come since 2018, we must also take responsibility for the past. We hope this agreement properly acknowledges those who have had negative experiences at Riot, demonstrating our desire to set an example in bringing greater accountability and equality to the gaming industry.”
