Ubisoft has postponed the highly anticipated Skull & Bones game once again. Instead of launching Skull & Bones in November just a day before God of War: Ragnarok, the company announced today, on March 9, 2023 announced its release.
Ubisoft said in a statement, “As the game continues to be completed in development at this stage, the extra time will be used to further refine and stabilize the experience using player feedback from our Tech testing and Insider Program. March 9, 2023, is a favorable release window for this very unique new game. This is the right decision for both our players and the long-term success of the game.” said
An open beta will be held before next year's release in Skull and Bones, which Ubisoft says will provide players with the opportunity to explore the game's piracy fantasy, naval combat and the Indian Ocean. This isn't the first time Skull & Bones has been delayed since it was first announced in 2017. The game had been in development before, but was suspended after the naval combat mechanics of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag were well received. (So Ubisoft didn't need another naval game.)
In September 2020, Ubisoft confirmed that its developers were working on a "new vision" for the game after reports claiming the game had been rebooted, with a release date of November 2022 eventually released. Since then, Ubisoft has shown more of its pirate gameplay and features, such as its impressive graphics on PC, smuggling networks where players can trade goods.
Ubisoft will end the summer of 2022 only with Just Dance 2022 and Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope. 2023 will see bigger games arrive, including Assassin's Creed Mirage and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, tentatively scheduled for next year.
