Alongside simple action shots and landscapes, Photo Mode often lets players have fun adding colorful filters and effects to screenshots, as well as funny poses and facial expressions to characters like God Of War's Kratos or Cyberpunk 2077's Johnny Silverhand. Some games, like Insomniac's critically acclaimed Marvel's Spider-Man and 2020's spin-off Spider-Man: Miles Morales, actually include a special Selfie Mode that lets fans take close-up shots of Webslingers in mid-air above the streets. Photo Mode has become so popular and pervasive in the gaming industry that developers like Naughty Dog have even started giving tips on how to take the best photos in The Last Of Us 2. That said, there are a few games so far that don't have this new feature.
IGNAccording to software developer and game modder Frans Bouma, has recently developed the Universal Unreal Unlocker mod, which allows players to enter a free camera perspective, the kind used in Photo Mode in PC games with Unreal Engine 4 builds that don't traditionally carry it.
From there, the player can disable the HUD elements of a particular game and change the lighting (thanks to a new update) to take impressive screenshots. This can be done even during cutscenes, which most games with a true Photo Mode don't allow. Additionally, UUU mode features a hot-sampling feature that quickly resizes the monitor's screen during capture, allowing gamers to take more detailed photos without the risk of damaging their computer's CPU.
