VALORANT Patch 5.06: All notes and updates

VALORANT Patch 5.06 is set to bring a number of big changes to the game.

In the latest update, the developers have tweaked the latest map, Pearl, and the submachine Stinger. The map has received a handful of changes in its three main areas - zone A, zone B and mid. The developers aim to make it easier to navigate the map with these changes. Stinger is said to be more suitable for short distances from now on.

Pearl received adjustments in critical places. The developers have removed corners and hiding spots in multiple areas, so it will be easier for defenders to recapture the defended areas as there won't be many points on the map to check before moving forward.

As a result, these changes will make Pearl much easier to play in both ranked ranks and pro play. The latest changes will increase the dynamics of the map and make the action much more interesting to follow.

Along with the map changes, the developers reduced the error rate of Stinger's firing. The goal of this change is to make the weapon “controllable and suitably lethal” at short ranges.

Alongside the balance changes, Valorant has also added a number of bug fixes.

Here are the notes and updates for VALORANT Patch 5.06

WEAPON UPDATES

STINGER

  • Changed Basic Shot margin of error: 7 margin of error after 1,6 shells >>> 6 margin of error after 1,3 shells
    • Our goal for the Stinger is to be both controllable and deadly at short ranges. However, in its current form, it is a difficult weapon to control, even in close combat. Reducing the maximum dispersion will make the Stinger a more reliable weapon at decent ranges once you get used to the recoil.
  • Alt Fire first bullet margin of error decreased: 0,5 >>> 0,35
    • Considering that it is an option that is expected to provide higher accuracy, it was felt that the first bullet was much more inaccurate than desired, especially at ranges where you might want to use the Rapid Fire mode.

MAP UPDATES

Changes have been made to some areas in Pearl to reduce complexity and make it easier to move around for both attackers and defenders.

  • To me - The length of the waist-high wall on the left side of the B Main area has been reduced to prevent it from hiding behind it completely.

  • Medium Shops – Clearing this area in the Middle Shops is more difficult than intended. By extending the platform here along the wall, we both partially protect the attacking team's power to hold the area and make it easier to attack from here.

  • From Central Shops to Central Square – We thought this spot would be difficult to clear as we drove from the Middle Shops towards the middle. That's why we removed one of the corners.

  • Middle Upper – In the current situation, the attacking side is in an advantageous position in this region. By removing the wall here, we save the defenders from having to check different spots. This change will make the job of the defenders a little easier in the middle.

  • A Picture We see that both sides are struggling to get through the A Picture efficiently. By simplifying this area, we reduce the number of places that need to be checked.

  • B Gate– While this box is a good cover for those attacking from the B gate, it is a difficult place to clear again for the defenders. We want it to be in such a way that the attacking side has some advantage, but the defenders can cope as well. By moving boxes in this area from the left to the right, we're reducing the number of corners that attacking players have to consider, and eliminating an awkward angle facing Hall B.

To Ana – Removing the wall indentation in Main A, making it a little easier for the defenders to attack here (it would be better if you defend the area of course).

  • A Main to A Zone – It was very difficult to seal this area with smoke. By making the corridor a little narrower, we aim to throw smoke and make it easier for the defenders to defend this place. The pocket on the right has also been reduced so that it is not too deep.
