Fans of the Diablo franchise are outraged that the $100 Collector's Box doesn't actually contain the Diablo 4 game.
Blizzard announced the long-awaited Diablo 4 release date with a flashy cinematic at The Game Awards 2022 show.
Capitalizing on the interest in the release date trailer and the general excitement around the Diablo 4 game, Blizzard official gear store Decided to update it with some Diablo themed items and goodies.
"Diablo The 4 Limited Collector's Boxes contain a candle, mouse pad, cloth map from an in-game location, souvenir pin, an art book, and some fine art prints. The description also states that it does not include a physical game or a code to download digitally.
This hasn't gone too well for the community, which has accused Blizzard of "milking" its player base and being generally "disrespectful" towards them.
Players accuse Diablo 4's Collector's Box of being "deceptive"
Josh Strife Hayes tweeted about the lack of real gameplay on Collector's Box, and the backlash was overwhelmingly negative, with some even accusing Blizzard of being deliberately "cheating".
One of the users commented, “Most people will assume that the game is included and they will be very, very upset.” “There will be many flashbacks and many store employees will be scolded.”
Since the item itself is a 'Collector's Box', there has been extensive discussion whether this item should be considered a 'Collector's Edition' of the Diablo 4 game.
“They don't call it the collector's box version, which feels a bit more like a bundle of merchandise from the game,” says one user who defends Blizzard's actions.
Blizzard itself has yet to respond to the complaints, and it's impossible to say for now whether they'll actually be interested, but Players interested in the latest developments in Diablo 4 game pre-release They can follow our news.
