Grand Theft Auto VI First Trailer Released Early After Leak. Our first official look at Rockstar Games' long-awaited open-world sequel is now available
The first trailer for Rockstar Games' upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI has arrived after a decade of rumors, speculation, and anticipation.
Today's GTA trailer was first announced on November 8, with a post from Rockstar president Sam Houser about the company's 25-year history and its future, which of course includes the massive sequel. And now the long-awaited trailer is out, giving fans their first look at the world of Grand Theft Auto VI.
The new trailer, which features Tom Petty's song "Love is a Long Road," is 90 seconds long and quickly confirms, as previously reported, that the location of this latest sequel is in Rockstar's Florida version of Leonida.
The first character we meet is Lucia, who is seen to be in prison at the beginning of the trailer. “Bad luck, I guess,” she replies when asked why she was locked.
After this brief introduction, the trailer shows a beautiful beach filled with tourists and animals, including birds and dolphins. The trailer actually features many animals, including flamingos and crocodiles.
We also see what looks like the swampy Everglades and someone using an airboat. This is a GTA game, so of course there's a quick shot of a strip club and crowded streets covered in graffiti.
“The only way we can get through this is by sticking together. Being a team,” Lucia says towards the end of the trailer. Then he asks his accomplice, Jason, “Trust?” he asks, and she replies, “Trust.”
What we know about GTA VI thanks to leaks
Even before this official look at Rockstar's GTA V sequel, we knew what we could expect in the game in 2022, thanks to an early game footage leak of unprecedented magnitude.
This leak confirmed reports that the game would feature two playable heroes and be set in the sunny Vice City seen in previous older games. Of course, the most famous was the main location of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, which first hit PS2002 in 2.
Now fans have an actual trailer they can examine frame by frame to get more details about the upcoming open-world crime simulation. I also expect players to start comparing the footage from the leak to this new trailer to see what's changed and what's staying the same.
For dedicated GTA fans mapping out GTA VI's new Vice City through leaked footage, this trailer will provide a host of new visual data to aid them in their efforts.
We'll see if this new GTA sequel can live up to the massive success of its predecessor, 2013's GTA V. This game, aided by its online multiplayer component, has sold 2023 million copies as of November 190, making it one of the best-selling video games of all time. Not many games have achieved these phenomenal numbers, except perhaps the next big GTA sequel.
