100 Thieves has announced that it has started developing its own video game.
In a new video released today by the esports organization, Nadeshot and John Robinson revealed that the company is working on its own game, but other details about the project are scarce for now.
The duo said that the game, codenamed Project X, is still in development and joked that they didn't even know what kind of game it was yet.
Robinson said the game will be developed with the help of content creators such as CouRage, Valkyrae, the professional player of 100 Thieves, and the community itself.
To help develop the game, 100 Thieves brought in Pete Hawley as chief product officer. Hawley has an extensive background in game development, including work on games like Burnout Paradise, LittleBigPlanet, and Killzone.
It's not entirely clear what genre the game will even fit into, but given Nadeshot's proximity to games like VALORANT and Call of Duty, the first-person shooter seems like a safe guess at the moment with no other information.
Nadeshot specifically talked about the emotions he felt while growing up playing games like Call of Duty, Halo, and Gears of War, and that he wants to recreate that feeling for new players around the world.
“Because we love games and have always dreamed of having the opportunity to build our own game,” Robinson said of why the game was made. Matt and I have been talking about this for over a year, and thanks to our hard work, we now have the people and money we need to start making a decent game.”
They also said that they will provide updates on the game's development process in the coming months and years.
