From October 7, you can complete quests for NPCs and earn scrap and treasure as rewards.
Rust, the open-world survival sandbox, takes some shape in the October update. In the new patch, which will be released on Thursday, players will be able to visit NPCs and accept quests, complete them and submit them for rewards.
“You can find quest providers in most safe zones, and quests range from catching fish and collecting timber to hunting sharks and uncovering hidden treasures,” says Facepunch Studios. “You can have one mission at a time, and they can be repeated.”
Rewards often come in the form of scrap metal and treasure boxes. Facepunch says this is just the beginning of the missions and while they are pretty simple now, the system will be expanded in the future. This month's missions will be single player missions, but co-op missions are under construction and PvP missions like delivery, ambush and bounty hunting will be added at some point.
When you're not on duty, you can drive and take a nap with Rust's newest vehicle, the camper van. The camper can fit four players, has storage space and a small barbecue for cooking. It looks pretty casual, as you can see in the image gallery below.
Perhaps best of all, the camper can serve as a spawn point if a player requests a seat inside. This means that no matter where in the world the camper is taken, you can be born into that seat. To make the camper module you will need a level 2 workbench, 175 metal parts and 125 woods.
Other changes coming with the update: You'll have to hold down the interaction key to open doors while injured, you'll be able to tell your auto-turrets not to shoot at your buddies, and horses will poop more (this last one definitely requires more research). And Halloween isn't far off, so expect some "spooky events" to come to Rust on October 28.
