Sony reportedly scaled back the size of Naughty Dog's The Last of Us multiplayer game earlier this year, following a review by platform owner and newly acquired Bungie.

"Bungie raised questions about the ability of The Last of Us multiplayer project to keep players engaged for long periods of time, which led to a re-evaluation," Bloomberg's news said.
According to the publication, although the game has not been cancelled, most of its developers have been shifted to other projects, leaving a small group remaining while Sony re-evaluates its direction.
Shortly before the Bloomberg report was published, Naughty Dog appeared to foreshadow the story with a statement on social media, stating that The Last of Us multiplayer game would take more time to develop.
“As development continued, we realized it was best for the game to give it more time,” the studio said. “Our team will continue to work on the project and our other games in development, including a brand new single-player experience.”
