Apex Legends' developers will remove tap strafing in the next patch, a form of player movement mostly used by PC gamers that allows them to take sharp turns to evade or counterattack less mobile opponents.
Tap-strafing is basically a hardcore, half-air spin that PC gamers develop to be more mobile on the playing field. This is a legal maneuver, not a glitch or a bug abuse. Gamepad players can technically tap-strafe, but tap-strafe is much easier with keyboard and mouse setup. PC gamers can also assign Apex Legends' jump command to their mouse wheel, helping them change direction and tap-strafe more precisely.
YouTube channel Dazs demonstrates how to make and usefulness of Tap-strafe in Apex Legends:
But in a tweet on Tuesday, Respawn said that in a game that fully supports cross-platform play, the Tap-strafe move is "inaccessible," according to some players.
Respawn's decision was ridiculed by Apex Legends players in the game's subreddit. Some have complained that this isn't an issue as PC gamers are by default paired with other PC gamers and not console users. Others have called this news an effective nerf for PC gamers as they see it as an unfair advantage.
Respawn said that tap-strafing will be discontinued as of Patch 10.1, although the date is unclear.
