Hiding behind a Leviathan egg is a new strategy, but it could work.
Apex Legends' new Dark Depths event brought more than just new skins. The shooter's new Arenas map, Habitat, is live when the event starts today. Starting today, players can dive into the new Arenas map in both casual and ranked modes.
The first Storm Point Arenas map has two main POIs on opposite sides: Nest and Cave. According to the official blog post, while Nest will make room for medium and long range combat, the fights in Cave will take place at close-to-medium range, so be sure to bring a shotgun or a gun with you. Throw some Leviathan eggs at Nest and a waterslide at Cave and you've got a unique Arenas map ready to play.
Respawn Entertainment has confirmed that Habitat will be the only map in the ranked Arenas rotation for the first 24 hours of the event. However, the casual playlist will have 15-minute slots until January 18, when Habitat will revert to the usual 60-minute measures on the playlist.
Dark Depths
While Habitat is the star of Dark Depths, players can join other festivities until the event ends on February 1. This gives fans more options for what to do until the next season of the game kicks off, possibly in early February than the game's schedule so far.
The Dark Depths collection expands the nautical elements in the Raiders event. The pirate suit gives way to technological swimsuits and even, in Fuse's case, the impression of a Poseidon. The second best moment between Fuse and the sea is that scene in the first Escape launch trailer.
According to the official blog post, Dark Depths items are “available for a limited time during the Dark Depths event.” However, they will still be available in Apex Packs after the event ends. If you want to catch them fast, you can get Dark Depth Packs that guarantee you not a single duplicate item. And if you don't want to spend a penny, the cosmetics in the collection can "always be crafted with metalwork," and production costs can drop even after two seasons, according to Respawn.
Dark Depths will bring weekly reward pieces that come with their own set of rewards. While there are skins, Holo-Sprays and event packs in the Pool, players will earn a unique badge each week by completing the required missions.
To close the event, the in-game store will have a special rotation featuring a mix of event items, packs, and cosmetics from past events. While the Wattson network may rejoice with the return of Fight Night's Haute Drop appearance, the Wraith network has the most cause for celebration. The Guardian of the Interdimensional Hunter's Void skin – the notorious Iron Crown image – will return to the store for the first time since 18, starting January 2019.
The Dark Depths event ends on February 1, but some items, such as Habitat and Dark Depths items, will remain long after that date.
