Assassin's Creed Mirage Correctly Depicted Adhan is one of the most important parts of worship for these Muslims
The Assassin's Creed series took us far in telling the story of the ongoing conflict between the Order of the Assassins and the Knights Templar, and with such a geographical and historical scope, it is also Ubisoft's mission to accurately and respectfully portray the diverse cultures seen in the series.
Expectations are high for Assassin's Creed Mirage, which draws attention with its inclusion of Athan, the Islamic adhan, and takes place in Baghdad in the 9th century.
The feature was highlighted on Twitter by Malek Teffaha, senior manager of global diversity, inclusion and accessibility project management at Ubisoft, after being mentioned by creative director Stéphane Boudon in a development diary posted on YouTube.
Ubisoft is receiving praise from many for choosing to include Athan and portraying it accurately. Renowned developer Rami Ismail notes that this is probably the first time Athan has been fully and accurately portrayed in a Western entertainment series, making it "incredibly damning" for the industry as a whole.
Ubisoft's attention to detail and research made players even more excited to explore the game and hear about Athan in person when it was released on October 5.
