Blackout is coming to Call of Duty Mobile on September 22.
There's a big addition on the horizon for Call of Duty Mobile. The Blackout map, from Black Ops 4's battle royale mode of the same name, is coming to Call of Duty Mobile on September 22 as part of one of the biggest updates to the hit game ever.
The blackout that fans will remember was Activision's first move in the battle royale genre. It was well received, but Activision chose to follow Call of Duty: Warzone, leaving Blackout behind. But thanks to Call of Duty Mobile, it's resurgent.
It looks to be similar to the console/PC version of the map, with many points of interest including references to popular Black Ops maps from Call of Duty Mobile, including Blackout, Nuketown, Array, Ghost Town, Firing Range, and Verruckt. “Some areas are nearly identical to their multiplayer incarnations, while others are only loosely based on their known environments,” said Activision.
It's not yet clear whether Blackout replaces Call of Duty: Mobile's existing battle royale map or will work with it as a second option. Whatever the case, it's coming to Call of Duty: Mobile as part of the game's second anniversary following the game's release in October 2019.
Call of Duty Mobile surpassed 500 million downloads on mobile platforms earlier this year, which is roughly one download for every 15 people in the world. The game is free and earns its money from microtransactions.
On the other hand, the Call of Duty: Vanguard multiplayer beta is currently ongoing, but cheaters are not welcome.
Big changes are coming for Call of Duty Mobile as Activision Blizzard faces a lawsuit from the state of California for discrimination and sexual harassment against women.
