Apex Legends season 13 kicks off on May 10, but one of the most anticipated features in Saviors won't launch until weeks after launch. According to game director Evan Nikolich, the limited-time game mode Control will return in the second half of season 13.
Nikolich says Control will be delayed a bit and will be out of the limelight for the first half of the season.
Control was first introduced as a limited-time mode in Apex Legends season 12. It remained available for the first three weeks of Defiance, then returned as part of the Warriors collectibles event in late March. Instead of the usual survival or tactical battle royale gameplay, Control is a game mode based on capturing regions on the map by earning kill points.
Another factor that helps Control stand out is the tool size. The nine-by-nine game mode features three groups of three teams that follow the same plan outlined in Apex. This means that each team can have a maximum of three of the same Legend, one per team.
As players wait for Control's return, Saviors offers many new elements to explore, including the new Legend Newcastle and Storm Point map update.
