Riot Games is wrapping up development on one of League of Legends' long-awaited champion updates. More details on an upcoming visual and gameplay update (VGU) for Udyr were revealed today.
Udyr's update was first announced last February when the game won the annual VGU fan vote by a wide margin. The update's release was originally scheduled for "early 2022," according to Riot, but the new version of the champion may not arrive on servers until later this year, judging by the development team's pacing.
Udyr's base skin is complete, and according to Riot's Champion Roadmap update, the majority of the team dedicated to the update are working on the champion's Spirit Guard skin.
In yesterday's update, Riot shared Udyr's Spirit Guard skin, revealing an early version of his in-game model before choosing an animal spirit to guide the champion.
Additionally, in yesterday's Roadmap update, Riot gave Aurelion Sol and Skarner insight into upcoming gameplay tweaks. While Aurelion Sol's game update is scheduled for this year, Riot has yet to officially begin Skarner's VGU update.
LoL players can expect the full update of Udyr to hit servers in 2022, and more details will likely emerge regarding a release date in the near future.
