This also seems to confirm that the end that Michael, Trevor, and Franklin survive is the actual end.
One of the three main characters in Grand Theft Auto V, Michael De Santa is still alive after the events of the main story, apparently confirmed (or reconfirmed) with the new GTA Online DLC.
In The Contract, Franklin walks through the grounds of a movie studio and says, “Dude, damn, I know one of the producers around here. I hope his ass isn't at work today."
This is believed to be a reference to Michael. Fans may remember being a filmmaker in GTA V, and this dialogue seems to confirm that Michael is still alive and still doing this job.
GTA V had three stories, and in one of them Michael dies. In another, Trevor dies. So this seems to indicate that the third ending where Franklin, Trevor and Michael survive is the canon ending. As Kotaku reminded us A previous update to GTA Online may have already confirmed this and that Michael survived, but now we have more evidence that Michael is still kicking and filming.
The contract is described as a "GTA Online Story" that suggests additional installments could come, but that's just speculation for now. Rockstar announced in 2013 that it would add new story-driven DLC featuring the heroes of GTA V.
GTA V and GTA Online will only get bigger when the games arrive on PlayStation 2022 and Xbox Series X in March 5. First released in 2013, GTA V has sold a staggering 155 million copies, while GTA Online is almost… constantly monetized through its various microtransactions.
