7 Horror Movies to Watch on the Weekend. Watch these iconic horror series all October long. It's October and there's never been a better time to have a horror movie marathon. There are many different types of ways to start a marathon like this. You can watch a bunch of classic horror movies or tune in to some of the best Halloween movies. But if you're looking for a little more continuity in your marathon, we recommend sticking to the horror series.
We've rounded up some of the most popular horror movie franchises below to give you an idea of where to start. Here are 7 Horror Movies to Watch on the Weekend
Friday the 13th
With Friday the 13th taking place in October this year, there's never been a better time to review the Friday the 13th movies. Jason is one of the most iconic horror villains of all time, and these movies are some of the best slashers ever made. There are currently 12 films in the series, including one in which Jason goes into space for some reason.
If you want to watch all the Friday the 13th movies in order, it will take you just under 17 hours to do so. So it's definitely possible in a single weekend if you're determined enough.
The Conjuring
The Conjuring universe is surprisingly large, and if you're diving into the series for the first time, it can be a pretty confusing timeline. There are a total of 9 movies in the series so far, and the 9th movie is coming on September 8. This list includes The Conjuring movies, Annabelle movies and The Nun.
If you include all 9 movies and 5 shorts in your streaming marathon, you can watch all The Conjuring movies in just under 16 and a half hours.
The Child's Play
Chucky is another iconic slasher that just won't let up. There are currently 8 Childs Play movies and a Chucky TV series currently in its third season. If creepy dolls are your thing, we recommend starting with the 1988 original and working your way through the series. You could also include the 2019 reboot, but that doesn't directly fit into the Child's Play timeline.
If you plan to watch all 8 movies at once, it will take you just over 11 hours and 40 minutes to finish them all, and that doesn't include the TV series.
Halloween
Another classic slasher series, the Halloween movies feature Michael Myers brutally killing people with his iconic mask. But if you were hoping to watch the Halloween movies in chronological order, we're sorry to say that the timeline is incredibly complicated. The Michael Myers universe can be divided into 5 different timelines. If you want to watch all 13 movies, you may have a difficult time. We recommend starting with the original 1978 film and then moving on to the new trilogy.
If you wanted to watch all 13 of the Halloween movies, it would take you over 20 and a half hours to do so.
The scream
The Scream series continues to grow in popularity following Scream 2022, which was released in 5, and Scream 6, which was released in March this year. If you're looking for a horror movie marathon that doesn't take itself too seriously, watching all the Scream movies in order is a great way to do it.
If you wanted to watch all 6 Ghostface movies in a marathon format, it would take you just over 11 and a half hours to do so. Here's where you can watch all the Scream movies online.
A nightmare on elm street
If you do a Friday the 13th movie marathon, it will end with a Freddy vs. Jason showdown. If you'd rather just have a Freddy movie marathon, you'll be happy to hear that there are currently 9 movies in the series. Even though it's been almost 13 years since a Freddy movie, the franchise is still iconic enough to be worthy of movie marathon status.
If you try to watch all the Nightmare on Elm Street movies in order, it will take you just over 14 hours to finish them all.
The Saw
With Saw X hitting theaters this year, there's never been a better time to watch all the Saw movies in order. There are currently 10 films in the series, but you may want to skip Spiral: If you're planning a marathon, you might want to skip Spiral: From the Book of Saw, as it's a bit of an outlier. This is also the first film in which Tobin Bell does not portray Jigsaw.
If you're hoping to watch all the movies in one go, it'll take just over 16 hours to do so.
