“Let me turn off crossplay until I get a real anti-cheat app”
Halo Infinite isn't out yet, but some players are already cheating.
As videos of wallhacks and aimbots appear online, including the clip below (which I find absolutely infuriating as a console Halo player), console gamers are looking for a chance to "turn off crossplay" until they "[developer 343 industries] get a real game. anti-cheat practiced”.
“Let me turn off crossplay until you implement some real anti-cheat,” the player begged, tagging the 343 Industries developer to see video evidence of a cheater they encountered.
Since the game is free to play and is clearly labeled "beta" for now, it's entirely possible that the 343i hasn't fully implemented the anti-cheat systems suite yet. This is of course a minor comfort for players currently trying to enjoy the shooter. Take this tweet from DougIsRaw.
The problem is, there is currently no way for console gamers to avoid PC gamers and vice versa. And while it's certainly true that not every PC gamer cheats and not every console gamer does, due to the lack of options, Halo fans can currently choose to pair with players using a controller rather than just a keyboard and mouse…which of course doesn't solve the problem at all.
If 343 eventually decides to let players turn off crossplay, it may be a while before we see the change appear in-game. Community director Brian Jarrard recently confirmed that the team is currently taking a "well-deserved break" following the surprise launch of Halo Infinite's open multiplayer beta earlier this month, while developers are listening to feedback from players.
This includes changes in progression following player complaints about the shooter's "terrible" progression rates and how long it takes to generate enough XP to progress through the Halo Infinite Battle Pass.
However, the 343 implemented a welcome change, adding the simple daily challenge of playing just one match. Also, bigger changes are reportedly coming later.
