Ruins, resorts and a submarine?
It's been a while, but Call of Duty: Warzone will soon be getting a new full-size set of maps set in the pacific theater of WWII. The new map Caldera will launch on December 2 with the Pacific update. To create excitement, the official Call of Duty Twitter has shared an official list of Caldera locations that reveal their main areas of interest.
“Where will you land?” reads the tweet with an annotated snapshot of the map. Apparently, the Caldera is divided into 15 regions, each defined by an important feature. Some are small, like the "Bottom Pen", which will likely house a submarine, and the largest is a large piece of land in the middle of the map called the "Fields", which is probably self-explanatory.
Here is the full Call of Duty: Warzone Pacific Caldera map location list:
- A – Arsenal
- B – Docks
- C-Runway
- D-Ruins
- E - Mines
- F – Peak
- G-Beachhead
- H – Village
- I – Lagoon
- J-Airfield
- K–Fields
- L – Sub Pen
- M – Power Plant
- N – Capital
- O – Resort
In each region with a large POI, we can see a group of small orange dots representing smaller POIs. There are at least a few hundred spots scattered throughout the map, and the most concentrated in the southern "Capital" area, so they most likely represent small clusters of buildings.
At first glance, the Caldera looks slightly smaller than the massive Verdansk region gamers are used to (though Activision said it's the same size). Maybe the island shape makes it look slimmer, but in any case, Warzone can cut through a few kilometers. It's no coincidence that Warzone's small sidemap, Rebirth Island, has proven so popular that developer Raven Software has made it a mainstay in the game – players want to get into the action as soon as possible.
Consistent with the map, CoD Twitter also posted this cheeky overpass video highlighting some of the Caldera's highlights, themed as a vacation getaway ad for tourists.
Activision has expanded its Caldera map information a little later, with an extensive blog post detailing several locations with new and flashy screenshots:
