Fnaitc took first place in Group D without losing series after defeating Cloud9 Blue and Visionn Strikers. KRU had a slightly tougher time in group play as they lost their first game against Team Liquid before they managed to earn second place in Group B with a win over FURIA and another incredible victory over the Sentinels.
The teams started their quarter-final matches in KRU's map selection Haven. Fnatic won the first two rounds on offense, but KRU stopped them in the third round. Klaus delivered an impressive four-round kill to tie the game, and they won the fifth round for good measure. However, Fnatic dominated the rest of the first half, scoring 8-4.
Fnatic won the pistol round again, but KRU won the 14th and 15th rounds. Fnatic won the next round by neutralizing Spike, but the South American team dominated the rest of the half. Keznit won a 17v1 clutch in the 2th round and her team continued their comeback by winning the next two rounds.
KRU won the first round of overtime, but Fnatic survived by winning round 26. KRU then won the last two rounds and took a 1-0 lead in the series.
The second map in Icebox was Fnatic's map selection, and for good reason. They definitely dominated KRU in the first half and finished the half with a score of 10-2. Keznit achieved an ace in the third round, which was the highlight of tomorrow for his team.
Fnatic continued their offense by winning the pistol round in the second half. KRU finally won consecutive rounds on rounds 14 and 15, but Fnatic stopped them in round 16 by neutralizing Spike. KRU won the next two rounds to keep hopes of a 19-2 sweep before Fnatic won the 0th round to take the series to the third map in Split.
KRU put up an excellent defense in the first half, forcing Fnatic to fight tooth and nail for every piece of the map. KRU maintained a stable lead and finished the half 7-5. They were more successful offensively and won the first three rounds of the second half to take a 10-5 lead.
Fnatic stopped the bleeding by knocking out Spike in round 16, but KRU won the next two rounds and was one round away from their semifinal appearance. Fnatic countered and neutralized Spike to win rounds 19 and 20, but KRU had no intention of letting them come back. They broke into B site in round 21 and spiked while each player was still alive. Fnatic failed to retake the site and was eventually sent home by the South American team.
KRU will face Gambit Esports in the semi-finals on 11 December at 14:00.
