The year is still a few months away, but news of next year's League of Legends pro scene is already starting to circulate. A new report has emerged suggesting that the Turkish region will lose its place in the Worlds for next year, according to Turkish news outlet Esporin.
The Turkish Championship League is an independent league that has been in existence since 2013. During this time, multiple World-class organizations such as SuperMassive Esports and Galatasaray Esports have evolved from the Championship League to the LEC and LCS such as 100 Thieves' jungler Closer, MAD Lions' Pear or G2 Esports' BrokenBlade. brought several superstar actors to the stage.
However, the region did not find much success on the international stage. Although they struggled for years at Worlds and the Mid-Season Invitational, they didn't improve much compared to other smaller regions such as Turkey, Brazil or Japan, with disappointing performances on the professional stage. In fact, the Turkish region has never left the Worlds group stage throughout the region's history.
Instead, TSL (Turkish Championship League) reportedly joined the European Regional League and has now become a region to compete in another popular international tournament, the European Masters.
While popular League of Legends reporter Brieuc Seeger couldn't confirm TCL's transition to ERL, sources did confirm the news, saying that next year there will no longer be a competing territory between Worlds. Additionally, according to Seeger, this will be one of several changes to the competitive LoL scene next year.
This decision could cause major ripples in the fabric of the competitive LoL scene, as it will not only impact the lives and career decisions of all Turkish pros, but also provide another battleground for one more team to reach the Worlds tournament.
