Microsoft Agreed With Playstation! Microsoft announced that it has made a 'binding agreement' to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation.
Will Call of Duty stay on Playstation?
Phil Spencer announced that following the acquisition of Activision Blizzard, Microsoft and PlayStation have signed a binding agreement to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation.
While little is known about the terms of the deal or how long it will last, it does clear one of the biggest hurdles in Microsoft's process of buying the Call of Duty publisher.
Microsoft president Brad Smith said: “From day one of this acquisition, we are committed to addressing the concerns of regulators, platform and game developers, and consumers.
“Even after we cross the finish line to ratify this deal, we will continue to focus on ensuring that Call of Duty remains available on more platforms and to more consumers than ever before.”
Although some names from Microsoft stated that the idea of making Call of Duty special was never on the table, this issue continued to be a sticking point for the PlayStation maker.
Call of Duty is regularly the best-selling game of the year, and even without full exclusivity, the possibility that the game might land on Xbox Game Pass at launch for a relatively small fee was one of PlayStation's biggest issues with the deal.
A US court yesterday rejected the Federal Trade Commission's (FTC) request to further halt Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard, paving the way for the deal to be completed.
Earlier this week, Xbox firm won a court battle with the FTC, which wanted to block the deal over antitrust concerns.
