Rainbow Six Siege has confirmed that new Operators will continue to arrive. Although Rainbow Six Siege has a truly staggering number of playable characters, developer Ubisoft Montreal recently said they will continue adding new operators to the game in the near future. If you haven't counted recently, there are 7 playable operators in Siege as of Year 2, Season 64: Vector Glare.
Creative director Alexander Karpazis told GameSpot, "We haven't even scratched the tip of the iceberg, the Team has a lot of ideas for releasing more characters." said.
“If we look at the ideas we had earlier with the new operators Sens and Max, we can see that there is still a lot of untapped potential in the game,” said game designer Mathieu Lacombe. “This is really great news for us. We are still making interesting, innovative and creative operators.”
Lacombe said the team was able to create so many new operators so quickly because they could just make operators that solve the same problem in different ways. He noted, for example, how Wamai and Jäger fulfill the same role as defensive operators. Both operators have gear that can stop projectiles, but Wamai's Mag-NET guides them, while Jäger's ADS-MKIV launches them into the air.
“New game designs create new opportunities. So we have a lot of room to create new operators. I don't think we're slowing down." said.
Karpazis said, “On the balancing side, I think we're still super comfortable. We haven't hit a snag and like I said, ideas are still coming in. But it really depends on what the community wants. Do they want to see more characters in the game or do they want to see something else? We will shape the content we deliver each season around what our player base wants from us.”
Rainbow Six Siege Y7S2 launches this month, adding an operator called Sens, a new Team Deathmatch map, a shooting range, and a new battle pass.
