Riot has a game for everyone in their League universe.
Riot Forge, iot's publishing arm, will release two new League of Legends spin-off games in 2022. Announced this week, the action platform game Convergence featuring Song of Nunu and Ekko will be released next year.
Incoming An announcement video Released today, Nunu Song looks wrapped in a somewhat cartoony LoL art style like The Last Guardian. An action-adventure game set in the Freljord, a harsh tundra tied to several characters from Runeterra. You play as League of Legends champion Nunu, and you can ride his yeti Willump to use it to climb walls, cross destroyed bridges, and slide down slopes. The game was developed by Madrid-based developer Tequila Works, who previously made The Sexy Brutale and Rime.
Announced earlier in 2019, Convergence is similar to many action platform games we've seen in the past five years. The game features Ekko and is set in the humid area of Zaun, which is the main focus of the new Netflix show Arcane. It has a 2D look and a fighting rhythm like Dead Cells and has a time rewind mechanism. Developers on Double Stallion games, during a new video, that rewind will come into play when you are fighting enemies and you need to rewind from being hit by a powerful attack.
Both games have a 2022 release date attached to them. While we live in a time where release dates for many games are delayed, Riot Forge's brief history indicates that these games will likely arrive on time. League spin-off RPG The Ruined King made a surprise release this week after being announced last year, and rhythm game Hextech Mayhem was both announced and released this week.
iot continues to leverage the massive League of Legends universe with games that bring you closer to characters and parts of the world that MOBA can't. Every new game in the world of Runeterra is an opportunity to steer the plot towards different types of players. If one game doesn't suit you, it looks like another game will be there or just around the corner to meet your needs.
