The educational VALORANT casting program, which is open to all women in the USA and Canada, is open for applications today. Six women will be invited to the event at the Verizon 5G lab in Playa Vista, California.
The six selected women will enjoy an all-inclusive trip to Los Angeles to hone their skills and talents on the VALORANT programme. Attendees will have access to cutting-edge broadcast equipment.
Applications will open on September 1 and close on September 12. Applicants can apply via a google form and provide a sample of past casting work. The program will take place between 18-22 October.
The VALORANT Game Changers program is a series of tournaments and events aimed at supporting women and marginalized genders in the gaming industry. This news comes shortly after Riot Games announced LCS Game Changers, a program focused on highlighting some of the most talented female players in League of Legends.
Both the LCS Game Changers and VALORANT Game Changers programs aim to move women from amateur leagues to professional leagues. LCS Game Changers apps are still open and will close on September 3.
From the beginning, Riot has made great strides to include women on the professional VALORANT scene. Prior to the start of the VALORANT Champions Tour, Riot promoted an all-female VALORANT tournament by Nerd Street Gamers and Spectacor Gaming called the FTW Summer Showdown. The event featured eight all-female teams and a $10.000 prize pool.
The next VALORANT Game Changers tournament is scheduled to start on September 24 with open qualifiers. The main event will take place from September 30 to October 3.
