Could we see two reworks in 2022 after doing just one last year?
While Riot Games is reducing the number of VGUs it handles in League of Legends each year to focus on creating new champions, there could be multiple reworks scheduled for release before the end of 2022.
In a Reddit thread discussing the champions scheduled for this year, League's lead champion producer Ryan “Reav3” Mireles said that an additional unannounced VGU could be released this year, but no plans have been solidified. “[There is] a second potential,” Reav3 said. "We haven't landed on a hook strong enough to be sure we'll ship it yet." According to him, the possible VGU is also “not yet in a place where we are sure we will talk about it”.
As part of the Season 2022 overview livestream, Riot announced another vote this year that will determine the champion receiving the VGU in 2023. The poll is similar to the polls that resulted in the upcoming Udyr tweaks as well as reworks for Volibear and Fiddlesticks. This year, players can vote for Shyvana, Skarner, Tyrndamere, Nocturne or Kog'Maw as their choice of VGU buyer who will receive said rework in 2023. Ahri was announced as the owner of a Caitlyn-level ASU this year, but no other champions have appeared to receive some sort of change.
While this year's second VGU is both unknown and has yet to be confirmed, many players think the other champion to work on is Quinn, who was in the VGU poll last season but was absent this season. While Quinn has already been overhauled once, she remains an odd and underused champion due to her kit and low top lane vitality as a marksman. Being Quinn's second rework is purely speculative by fans and has yet to be confirmed.
Players can now choose between Shyvana, Skarner, Tryndamere, Nocturne and Kog'Maw for the champion they want to get VGU in 2023 in the League client. Udyr, winner of last year's poll, will receive a rework later this year.
