Sony is getting serious about PC this year.
Sony's PlayStation games on Steam are now published by PlayStation PC LLC instead of PlayStation Mobile. Forum posters on Resetera noticed the change yesterday, and it looks like the PlayStation PC company was founded earlier this year. This could mean we'll see Sony use more PlayStation PC brands in the future.
Horizon Zero Dawn Coming to Steam in August 2020 and later of Days Gone After its arrival in February, Sony has gradually increased its presence on PC over the past year. Sony also on January 14 God of War Remastered to PC and in 2022 Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection brings.
Sony's head of PlayStation Studios, Hermen Hulst, revealed in June that Sony is still early in its PC plans. “I want to emphasize that PlayStation will continue to be the best place to play our PlayStation Studios games at launch,” Hulst said in a PlayStation blog post. “But we value PC gamers and will continue to look for the right times to launch each game.”
Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan previously described Sony's push for PC games as an easy decision for the company. Ryan, earlier this year GQ “There is an opportunity to bring these great games to a wider audience and get to know the not always simple economics of game development,” he said in an interview with . “The cost of making games increases with each cycle as the caliber of IP increases. In addition, our ease of making it available to non-console owners has also increased. So this is a pretty simple decision for us.”
