All three LCK entities are competing for the Wild Rift Champions Korea 7 World Championship, which kicks off on September 2021.
From September 7 to 19, eight teams will compete in League of Legends: Wild Rift Champions Korea (WCK) 2021. The game features a prize pool of 80 million South Korean won (approximately $69.000), and the winning country represents the country in the competition. The competition will be played offline at LoL Park in Seoul, South Korea. There will be no audience in the hall.
Three teams from the LCK were directly invited to compete. These are T1, Liiv SANDBOX and KT Rolster. Five other teams qualified for WCK through the public Wariwari Rumble tournament that took place last month. These are GLUK, Baby is 87, Break Frame Gaming (BFG), Let's Go to Mars (LGTM) and Team NC.
WCK split into group stages from September 7-12, followed by the playoffs September 16-19.
For the group stages, the eight teams were split into two groups (A and B) of four teams each. The best of three will compete in a single-circuit tournament format. This means teams will face every other team in their group once. The top two teams from each group will advance to the playoffs. The groups are as follows:
Group A
- T1
- Liiv Sandbox
- GLUK Gaming
- Team NC
Group B
- KT Roller
- Break Frame Gaming
- Let's Go to Mars
- baby is 87
Playoffs will consist of semi-finals, third place match and finals. Except for the Finals, all matches will be played on the best-of-five system. The grand finals will feature the seven best series.
The tournament will start daily at 03:00 CT. It will air on Wild Rift Esports Korea's Twitch channel and Wild Rift Korea YouTube channel.
Having won six World Championships since its inception in 2013, Korea is the most successful region in League of Legends esports. Wild Rift fans will hope the country performs the same in the mobile game.
