With the conclusion of the game's first global tournament, the League of Legends: Wild Rift Horizon Cup, last month, fans are waiting for a 2022 esports announcement for the MOBA title.
Brazil is now the first region to receive details for the Wild Tour 1,4 with a prize pool of 246,300 million Brazilian Reals (approximately $2022).
The Wild Tour will include open qualifiers leading to a group stage and playoffs. The biggest news for Wild Rift esports in 2022 is that, alongside the online qualifiers, all matches will be played at the Riot Games studio in São Paulo, Brazil.
Unlike 2021, the Wild Tour will now have a much longer format where the group stage is divided into 10 weeks. Matches will be streamed live from the Riot Games studio every Friday and Saturday on Twitch, YouTube and Nimo TV.
There will be two open qualifiers with registrations starting on January 5. The first open qualifier will take place between January 13-16, and the second between January 20 and 23. Each qualifier will have a maximum of 512 people. The top four teams from each qualifier will advance to the Wild Tour Brazil.
The eight qualifying teams will be joined by the top four teams of the Wild Tour 2021, TSM, Só Agradece, DreamMax and Liberty.
The 12 teams in the Wild Tour Brazil will be split into two groups of six teams each. They will compete in the bo18 format in their groups for 23 weeks between February 10 and April 3. The top four teams will advance to the playoffs where the bo5 series will take place. (finals will be bo7)
