The big game organization last competed in Apex in 2019.
100 Thieves, one of the world's largest gaming organizations, announced this afternoon that it is returning to competitive Apex Legends, signing the defending North American ALGS champions.
The organization announced today that Brendan “Onmuu” Pode, Nicholas “Vein” Hobbs and Alex “scuwry” Scala will now represent 100 Thieves.
Onmuu, Vein and scuwry were previously signed to Kungarna. They took home more than $250.000 with a stunning finish at the ALGS Championships in June, cementing the team's otherwise marginal status on the stage and earning them life-changing cash. Scala had previously battled the threat of homelessness and turned to the Apex community for financial assistance.
100 Thieves is famous for its fashion—a collaboration with Gucci in July has garnered as much attention as its games. In the second year of the ALGS professional circuit, the newly recruited 100 Thieves team will compete with the likes of NRG and TSM to defend their titles. The North American professional league begins October 16, where a total of 40 teams will compete over five weeks of online play spanning six tournaments of six games each. ALGS has a global $5 million prize pool that offers a nice incentive to competitors.
100 Thieves was one of the first organizations to compete in Apex. However, the organization left the scene at the end of 2019 with no tournament wins and only $1.500 in total earnings.
This is 100 Thieves' second investment in the Apex scene after signing popular controller NiceWigg as content creator in September.
