Battlefield 2042 is coming to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and EA Play. Free access periods on all platforms are planned for December. DICE has confirmed that Battlefield 2042 will join the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and EA Play libraries in the near future.
In a development update video released Thursday, which can be watched below, the studio announced Battlefield 2042's "3rd Edition" for Game Pass Ultimate and EA Play subscribers. He said it will be available "with the release of the season".
While the launch date of Season 3 has yet to be confirmed, Season 2 started in late August and is about to end.
Free access to Battlefield 2042 across all platforms is also scheduled for December.
Battlefield 2042 Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and EA Play Xbox are coming. Players will be able to try the game for free from December 1-4, Steam players December 1-5, and PlayStation players December 16-23.
While publisher EA has previously committed to releasing four seasons of live service content for Battlefield 2042 over a year, DICE said today that more content is on the way.
“We are in the pre-production phase of new content coming after Season 4 next year,” the studio said.
Season 3, titled Escalation, will be announced in full later this month. In response to Battlefield 2042's Specialists, a class system will be introduced in early 3.2 with the game's 2023 update.
DICE also said, “In seasons three and four, we will continue to bring enhanced versions of our existing maps from launch.” “You're already playing these overhauled versions of Kaleidoscope, Renewal, and Orbital, and will start playing on new versions of Manifest and Breakaway in Season 3.
