League of Legends' main map ahead of the 2024 season that starts next year Makes some major changes to Summoner's Rift. The changes will include both visual and gameplay updates to monsters, as well as terrain changes and other gameplay updates.
The Void's impact will bring about some big changes to the Rift in the new year, resulting in both aesthetic and gameplay changes to the Baron, jungle camps, and the Rift Herald, as well as the introduction of a brand new monster type.
Baron Nashor will receive a visual update giving him his hands for the first time, as well as changing the terrain around the Baron's pit, granting him additional abilities gets three new jerseys. Hunting Baron will leave the pit unchanged but give it a lightning burst ability, Territorial Baron will create a small wall in front of the pit and use his newfound hands to pull champions towards him, while All-Seeing Baron will turn the pit into a tunnel and add a damage-over-time Rift ability .
The Rift Herald is also getting a Void-inspired visual update and a tweak that allows players to ride on its back and control it for short periods of time. Players can use Hüma to attack and take down enemy champions, and if Hüma has a champion on her back while charging a turret, she will deal more damage than normal.
A new monster called Voidgrub will replace the game's first Rift Herald, spawning after five minutes and despaw at 14 minutes. Players who kill Voidgrubs will receive the Hunger of the Void buff, which grants a damage bonus against structures. If players accumulate five or six of these power-ups (with a maximum of six per game), they will also be able to summon Voidmites to help destroy structures.
Void's effect will also be seen in jungle camps, with Blue Sentinel and Red Brambleback respawning as Voidborn Sentinel and Voidborn Brambleback at the 20th minute of the game. The void effect makes them difficult to defeat, but when killed grants their buffs to all living members of the player's team. At the 20th minute, Scuttler will also appear as Voidborn Scuttler and grant an empowered Scryers Bloom effect when killed.
The map update will also change some terrain on the Rift, especially around the river. The changes largely focus on ensuring the Rift's red and blue sides are more closely mirrored and reducing side-based perks.
In other changes to gameplay, Riot will be removing Mythic items from the game in order to “shift power from the items to the champions themselves.” Riot hopes this change will give players more flexibility in how they approach item crafting in the 2024 season.
These changes will go into effect at the start of the 2024 Season, which coincides with the start of the next calendar year. The new Rift is currently live on PBE for testing before its full release.
