Riot Games has launched a new music group under the Riot Games Music label. This time a boy band was created. The band, Heartsteel, consists of League of Legends characters Ezreal, Kayn, Aphelios, Yone, K'Sante and Sett, and their first single, Paranoia, was released today.
The group's music comes from collaborations with a number of real-life international artists: K-pop group EXO and SuperM's Baekhyun lend their voices to vocalist Ezreal. Los Angeles rapper Cal Scruby lends his voice to Kayn, who is both a rapper and an instrumentalist. Taiwanese-American R&B and Mandopop artist ØZI voices the group's co-leader and rapper Sett, while American multi-talented artist Tobi Lou voices the other co-leader and vocalist K'Sante. Other non-vocalist members of the band include producer Yone and instrumentalist and songwriter Aphelios.
Riot, which has previously found success with K/DA, a virtual K-pop-style group made up of female champions from the League of Legends roster, is now trying something similar with Heartsteel's all-male roster. K/DA has released multiple singles and an EP since its debut in 2018, and its debut single POP/STARS was recently certified platinum. Riot Games Music has also launched a number of other virtual acts, including True Damage, a hip-hop group founded by K/DA rapper Akali, and Pentakill, a heavy metal band that emerged as a skinline in 2014.
As with Riot's other musical groups, each member of Heartsteel will receive a new skin, and these skins will be available in League of Legends and Wild Rift starting November 8. We can also expect the Heartsteel group to showcase Paranoia live at the League of Legends 19 World Championship finals on November 2023.
