Apex Legends is not getting enough of records. The successful EA game has achieved another success after a net income of 2 million dollars.
After the release of Saviors, the 13th season of Apex Legends, on May 10, the game set a new record for itself on Steam with more than 400.000 simultaneous players on the PC platform.
The new record comes on the heels of a successful season launch that includes the game's newest character, Newcastle, as well as changes to the game's ranked mode and Storm Point map. Important for this record was server stability, which has been an issue for the game in past seasons. Technical issues during the launch of season 12 left players on multiple platforms experiencing drops in FPS, and many wondered if there would be similar issues in season 13. In Season 13, however, most players don't seem to have experienced such extensive technical issues.
The old concurrent player record on Steam was broken just a few months ago in season 12. The game managed to reach the top with about 393.000 players. Apex broke that number in Season 13 and broke the 400.000 barrier to peak at 412.556 players on Steam. This record only applies to Steam, not including the player base on all consoles where Apex is available and on other platforms, including EA's own PC platform Origin. At the start of season 13, it is possible that the total number of simultaneous players across all platforms may have eclipsed 1 million.
Whatever the actual total player count on Apex on May 10, Respawn and EA will certainly be pleased to see the battle royale game continue to grow. In an earnings report on May 10 EA stated that Apex has exceeded $2 billion in total earnings throughout its existence. He reported that the company expects the game and its spinoffs to eventually make $1 billion a year.
If the player base continues to grow as it is now, it shouldn't be too hard for the game to hit that target.
