A new update to the PlayStation Store background has revealed an official looking artwork for an upcoming Call of Duty: Warzone event featuring the terrifying kaiju Godzilla and King Kong.
The painting says, “The war begins on May 11,” and bears the name of Operation Monarch, after the scientific organization in the King Kong movies.
Also pictured are Godzilla and King Kong soaring over the Caldera, firing nuclear breath at the island as large lizard planes fly around them.
Activision started talking about something big shortly before the release of the third season of Vanguard and Warzone, which will be released on April 27. It looks like there will be two weeks between the launch of the new season and this new event.
Operation Monarch appears to be Warzone's attempt at a Fortnite-like live event. Epic's battle royale sets the standard for massive, live events in the game, where players log in to experience things together in-game. If Activision can make it through, it would be incredible to see King Kong and Godzilla battle.
With the third season kicking off next week, official confirmation of the images above will come soon, and the event itself will arrive in Warzone on May 11.
