YouTube Video Editing Application Made. YouTube Create is designed to make it easier to create a Short, which can help YouTube better compete with TikTok.
YouTube is releasing a new app called YouTube Create that lets you edit videos right on your phone, the company announced Thursday. The new app could encourage more people to make Shorts, which YouTube developed for TikTok-style videos; Making a TikTok video is often easier than making a full-fledged YouTube video, which is a major reason why TikTok has exploded in popularity.
Making a separate app also mimics TikTok's strategy of releasing its separate app CapCut, which helps you create videos you can share on TikTok and other platforms.
“The [YouTube Create] app offers video editing tools like precision editing and trimming, automatic captioning, voice-over features, and access to a library of royalty-free music with filters, effects, transitions, and beat-matching technology, so creators can create videos without relying on complex editing software,” YouTube said in a blog post. “They can produce their next YouTube video,” he said.
The YouTube Create app will be available as a free download and will be available in beta on Android in “select markets.” YouTube spokesperson Kimberly Taylor said in a statement that these markets are the USA, England, Germany, France, Indonesia, India, Korea and Singapore. Taylor says YouTube plans to bring the app to iOS next year.
YouTube is announcing YouTube Create as part of a series of news at its Made on YouTube event. The company also announced some new AI-powered features, including AI-generated backgrounds for the Shorts and a “Dream Screen” tool for creating AI-suggested video subjects.
