Naturally, this guide contains major spoilers.
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty endings guide
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty's mission structure is based on the late game. Therefore, we outline the processes that helped us achieve certain key points. Additionally, we recommend having backup recordings if you want to make a different decision next time.
Crucial decision: Firestarter – help Songbird or help Reed
As you near the end of the Firestarter mission, you'll need to make an important decision. This includes closing tasks and certain legendary weapon rewards It will affect the final type of reward you receive, including: You are given these two options:
- Help Songbird escape: “I'm with you.”
- Help Reed catch Songbird: “One more second…”
Finale #1: The Killing Moon – Songbird's escape
If you help Songbird escape in the Firestarter mission, A final mission called The Killing Moon you will receive. The goal is to clear a spaceport and have it board a shuttle that takes it to lunar facilities. However, when you get into the train car, you realize that Songbird may have lied and used V to find a cure for herself.
At this point and in subsequent situations, several options are available:
- Get Songbird: “Time to go” or “Wake up dammit”
- Call Reed: “Reed will take care of you.”
What happens if you defend Songbird?
To get this Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty finale, you must pick up Songbird and transport her to the shuttle. Suddenly Reed appears and a stalemate remains:
- Reed will warn you if you get too close. If you continue walking towards him, he will shoot and kill you.
- Reed wants you to place Songbird on the ground. If you continue to refuse and say that he will have to kill you, he will definitely do it.
Once you deposit Songbird into the platform, you will continue to talk to Reed:
- Any “Holster Weapon” options that appear will cause you to give up on Songbird. We discuss what happens if you choose this type of response in the next section of our guide.
- “Draw Weapon” options will cause you to target Reed. You will only have a few seconds to shoot and kill him.
- Other responses will only prolong the tense stalemate. Reed will then give you three seconds to surrender, and you'll really have no choice but to finish him off.
Once Reed is dead, you can pick up Songbird again and take her to the shuttle. V and Johnny will watch the shuttle take off, presumably so Songbird can be cured of Blackwall's breakdown. You can also pick up Reed's legendary weapon, Pariah, next to his corpse.
If you choose this special bow V won't find a cure. Instead, you'll return to Night City, and the only remaining ending options are those left over from the base game (i.e. Nocturne Op55N1 and the meeting with Hanako Arasaka and beyond). Meanwhile, we also completed a certain final mission from the base game. There was no new post-credits scene (i.e. Songbird didn't call V to chat).
What happens if you give up on Songbird
To get this Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty finale, you'll need to deliver Songbird to Reed. There are several ways to do this:
- Choose to search for Reed in the train car. Then, give up on Songbird when she exits her shuttle.
- You can also get Songbird. Then continue talking to Reed during the stalemate.
- Be sure to select this option when you see the following: [Holster gun] “It's all yours, but you'll help me live.”
Reed will carry Songbird to the waiting NUSA transport nearby, and you can tell him to keep his part of his deal. This unlocks a new ending for the Cyberpunk 2077 main campaign. This is no longer You don't need to go through all the missions related to Nocturne Op55N1 and Arasaka HQ. It means.
Finale #2: Somewhat Damaged – Songbird's capture
If you help Reed capture Songbird in Firestarter, you'll get a completely different ending. It includes the following tasks:
- Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos – You will need to eliminate the MaxTac forces protecting Songbird.
- Somewhat Damaged – You will enter the Cynosure facility and avoid a deadly Cerberus robot. Same way, Erebus legendary weapon and Militech Canto Mk6 You will find the blueprints of the cyber software.
At the end of Somewhat Damaged, you will enter the core where Songbird is hidden. He's in a weak position and wants you to finish him off. You are given several options:
- Kill Songbird
- Spare Songbird – If you do not kill Songbird immediately, the options will appear in the next dialogue prompt.
What happens if you donate Songbird?
This leads to a mission called Leave in Silence, where you and Reed take him back to the NUSA border. Here's what happened next:
- Mayor Myers will appear and give you a medal. We're not sure if taking the oath earlier in the story is necessary for this, but there is a reference to it.
- Answer Myers this way: “What happens now? What about the help I was promised?”
- Talk to Reed and watch Songbird being lifted into the air. He will promise to call you later.
What happens if you kill Songbird?
The same scenes from Leave in Silence will be played. However, there are a few important differences:
- Reed is saddened by Songbird's death.
- Myers will renege on his promise to find a cure for V, as your mission is to bring Songbird back alive.
Result: New return point
You will then be asked to wait a few days until Reed calls you to talk about treatment. This is a bit vague because there is no exact time frame. In our case, we had to skip a few days in the game until we got a call from Reed. When he calls you, find him at the specified location:
- If you helped Songbird in Firestarter, you must deliver her to Reed in The Killing Moon. You will receive a quest called Through Pain to Heaven. You will meet Reed at a gas station. Chat with him and he will go away. He promises that NUSA's scientists are trying to prepare everything for your operation.
- If you helped Reed capture Songbird in Firestarter, you must spare her in Somewhat Damaged. You will receive a quest called Four Score and Seven. Reed will be waiting for you at the basketball court in Dogtown. Similar to the above, NUSA's scientists are also preparing for your treatment, he says.
Either of these two paths will lead to another quest called Who Wants to Live Forever. Next, you'll need to go to the rooftop of Misty's Esoterica, which is marked on your map. Those who have played the base game will remember this as where V decides how to attack Arasaka HQ.
Important: This area acts as the return point. You are free to explore the rest of Night City. However, when you call Reed, a NUSA transport vehicle will arrive and you will be taken to a hospital that leads you to the new conclusion.
New ending: Things Done Changed
This new ending for Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is a bit bittersweet. Here's a quick summary:
- V recovered. No more Soulkiller; Neither does Johnny Silverhand.
- Unfortunately, V's cyberware implants were also removed. Attempting to use a combat implant could lead to their death. Solomon Reed offers you a job in his office, which your character declines.
- To make matters worse, the operation left V in a coma for two years. You will be able to call your old friends as soon as you wake up. Apparently a lot happened while he was away:
- Judy – We played FemV in our campaign and had a romantic relationship with Judy. Considering that two years have passed, the relationship between the two has ended and Judy is already married to someone else.
- Panam – Panam is not answering her phone. In a post-credits scene, Mitch says that your disappearance has “broken” him and that you should stop contacting him for good.
- Kerry – Kerry is currently touring Europe and doesn't have time for you.
- River – Due to some mishaps, River committed several crimes and got on the bad side of some dangerous people.
- Viktor – Looks like your friend Ripperdoc has a plan…
Epilogue: Return to Night City
This is a time when V returns to Night City. epilogue It leads. Here you will encounter several people:
- Viktor – tries to run diagnostics to realize that what happened to V's nerve connection is irreversible.
- Misty – You encounter a badass looking Misty and she gives you some advice.
Long story short: Legendary mercenary V is safe and sound. Unfortunately, he can no longer engage in any combat-oriented roles as he is unable to use most cybernetic implants. Now he is an ordinary person, a face in the crowd.
This Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty ending also features several post-credits scenes featuring other characters. As previously stated, Mitch asks you not to contact Panam again. Rogue, on the other hand, says you're always welcome at the Afterlife bar, but she also doesn't want you to tarnish your legend. Takemura also tells you how he and Hanako tried to overthrow Yorinobu Arasaka. Without V's help, this failed – Hanako was killed and Takemura was falsely accused of her murder. Finally, Reed says Songbird is alive, but he says he hasn't heard from her in a long time. It seems like he regrets his actions.
That's everything you need to know about the endings (finale) while playing Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. Was this a satisfying conclusion to V's story, or could things have been better? You be the judge.
