Elon Musk's participation in the Valorant Champions tournament was greeted with boos as the crowd chanted 'Bring Twitter back'.
Billionaire Elon Musk was booed by the crowd after his participation in the final day of the Valorant Champions 2023 tournament was highlighted on the air.
In a clip of the post shared by Jake Lucky, it was revealed that Musk had attended the stadium, but was met with loud boos from the crowd. “Where does this come from, it certainly can't be from here,” one of the broadcast's publishers asked. “Is this a bigger backlash than [professional Valorant player] tenZ got?” The other answered.
The broadcast returned to the match between Canada-based Evil Geniuses and Singaporean team Paper Rex, but the crowd was not done with Musk. “Focus on the game now,” one of the streamers erroneously said before the crowd started chanting “Bring Twitter back.”
If I had billions of dollars, I'd probably invest my fortune in a major development effort to make a full-blown CRPG set in Dark Sun, and also eat Thanksgiving dinner every meal until I got gout. Given the same opportunity, Musk embarked on a media fight over corporate ownership of Twitter, a former social media giant. Musk made an offer to buy the company for $44 billion and later backed off, but was forced to see the deal after facing legal pressure from a Delaware court.
Since then, the billionaire has completed a series of ill-received staff, monetization and moderation changes, renaming the site from "Xhamster.com" to, sorry, "X.com". In May, The Guardian reported that the company had lost two-thirds of its value under Musk's leadership.
So congratulations to the Valorant Champions 2023 crowd, sometimes it can be nice to see someone who is far from everyday life having to deal with the consequences of their own actions. Also, congratulations to Evil Geniuses for becoming the first North American team to win a Valorant Champions tournament.
