Farcry 6 Will No Longer Receive Updates! Ubisoft has confirmed that Far Cry 6 will no longer receive updates. Online services of the game continue.
Ubisoft announced that Far Cry 6 will no longer receive updates.
In a tweet from the official Far Cry Twitter account, it was stated that the game's online services will continue, but no further patches will be released.
"Thanks to the millions of players who participated in the fight," the statement said. “Your adventures can continue at Yara without interruption to online services. However, the development team will no longer make updates for Far Cry 6.
“We appreciate your passion, creativity and love of Chorizo, even Anton is proud.”
Earlier this year, media reports claimed that Ubisoft was currently developing Far Cry 7 and a standalone Far Cry multiplayer game.
It is claimed that Far Cry 7 was made with Ubisoft's Snowdrop engine instead of the Dunia engine used in the last games of the series. The multiplayer game is currently claimed to be an extraction-based shooter set in the Alaskan wilderness.
Both games are said to be tentatively planned for release in fall 2025.
Ubisoft is also making numerous appointments and promotions related to the Far Cry brand to prepare for the future of the series.
In August, Ubisoft Montreal veteran Sandra Warren was promoted to vice president and executive producer of the Far Cry brand.
Warren joined Ubisoft in 2006 and has been involved in the Far Cry series since 2016's Primal. Most recently, he was the brand producer of Far Cry 6.
Earlier that month, Ubisoft also promoted Far Cry 5 writer Drew Holmes to Far Cry IP director. VGC understands Warren will have the most senior role of the duo in terms of production, while Holmes will oversee the series' creative roadmap.
