Final Fantasy 14 Patch 6.2 will be out in late August and will include the highly anticipated Island Sanctuary feature. a new by announcement FFXIV developers have provided more details on what players can expect.
Island Sanctuary is like the mini farming simulation in Final Fantasy 14. Players can build buildings, tend creatures, and grow crops without the need to upgrade their gathering and crafting class.
These areas will essentially act as a "base of operations" for players to create and customize. Players will also be able to collect materials and craft vehicles on the island. These tools will help players grow different crops from land crops on the island. Supplies will also be limited to the island and available in a separate inventory area.
For the Crafting item, players can create "crafts" that can be exported for island-specific currency. Earned currency can then be exchanged for special items.
For those without a home, Island Sanctuary is an exciting development. Players can also visit each other's islands, and it's a customizable venue for interior designers among players. Also, Island Sanctuary appears to be a completely separate feature from the rest of the game's economy, so we don't expect major Marketboard fluctuations. But it's a big surprise that the estate crops are completely separate from Island Sanctuary's crops.
In other announcements, Patch 6.18 will be released on July 5th and players will be able to travel between Data Centers after the update. Patch 6.2 will be called Buried Memories and will include weapon missions. They will be connected to the notorious Hildibrand quests, a series of optional side quests. But for those who want to buy new weapons, it might be a good idea to start the rather long Hildibrand questline now. We'll likely get another detailed announcement before 6.2 is released, so stay tuned for more details.
