Like most other things, Fortnite's premium currency is getting a little more expensive. Fortnite is increasing the price of its premium currency, V-Bucks, in multiple regions as of October 27. The price increase will affect the United States, Japan and some European countries.
The price increase was reported by Fortnite news account HYPEX on Twitter, which published the new pricing table for Fortnite's various premium currency packs. The price of V-Bucks in US dollars will increase by approximately 12% to 15% depending on the bundle – for example, 1000 V-Bucks will increase from $8 to $9.
Fortnite actually reduced the price of its V-Bucks packs a few years ago when it was fighting with Apple over platform fees. The new prices are still lower than what Epic was charging before that update, but not by much. The upcoming price increase seems likely to be inflation-related and follow the general price increase trend across many sectors.
- 1.000 V-bucks – $8,99, was $7,99
- 2.800 V-bucks – $22,99, formerly $19,99
- 5.000 V-bucks – $36,99, old price $31,99
- 13.500 V-bucks – $89,99, ex $79,99
Epic recently reached a $520 million settlement with the Fair Trading Commission over “deceptive practices” regarding in-app purchases. Anyone who accidentally purchased Fortnite or whose children made purchases without their permission can apply to request a refund of part of the settlement.
