Grand Theft Auto is one of the most popular and well-known series in the gaming world, and expectations are high for the next game in the series. Rockstar Games announced Grand Theft Auto 6, but technically it hasn't given the game an official name yet. That may change soon, as Rockstar recently confirmed that it will release the game's first trailer in early December. While details are scarce at the moment, we've learned quite a bit about the game from various sources over the years. At work GTA 6 release date, the first trailer and everything we know about the game.
First Trailer
The first trailer for GTA 6 has arrived and you can watch it above. We say the first trailer because it was coded as 1 in the statement Rockstar gave the trailer date.
Who is developing GTA 6?
Grand Theft Auto 6 is developed by Rockstar Games. Rockstar North, based in Edinburgh, Scotland, is leading the game's development, but these days Rockstar's entire studio network is known to be working collectively on the same project, unlike how development on Call of Duty is distributed across teams. Rockstar's last big game, Red Dead Redemption II, was developed by more than one team, and this will be the case again in GTA 6.
GTA 6 release date
Neither Rockstar nor parent company Take-Two have announced an official release date for GTA 6, but there are hints. According to comments from Take-Two, the game will be released in late 2024 or so. It may come out in early 2025. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said during an August 2023 earnings call that fiscal 2025 (April 2024 through March 2025) will be a “major milestone” for the company. Take-Two is expected to achieve “new record operating performance” during the fiscal year. Many people interpreted this to mean that GTA 6 would be released in this time frame, as it is a huge series that could potentially make Take-Two tons of money. However, this may not be GTA 6 and this may not be the release window.
Earlier this year, a voice similar to the artificial intelligence voice that Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said GTA 6 would be announced on October 23 appeared on the internet. This is almost certainly fake.
What will be the price of the game?
Take-Two was one of the first publishers to start charging $10 more for major new releases, and one has to imagine that will continue with GTA 6. Take-Two's Strauss Zelnick recently $70 He said he saw “no backlash” against the price point, so you can safely expect GTA 6 to carry that premium price point as well.
It will be different from previous GTAs!
Take-Two's Strauss Zelnick is known for letting Rockstar speak for itself, but he recently shared some words about GTA 6. He said Rockstar was looking for "nothing short of perfection" and that they aimed for GTA 6 to be "something you've never seen before."
“I think that's the challenge the people at Rockstar face with each new iteration of Grand Theft Auto. It needs to be something you've never seen before,” Zelnick said. “And it needs to reflect the feeling we have about Grand Theft Auto – that's a big challenge for the team. Rockstar's answer is to seek perfection. Look for nothing but perfection, and we will get there.”
GTA 6 rumors
There are a lot of rumors about Grand Theft Auto 6. One of the most interesting rumors is that the game will have a Fortnite-style developing map. According to some rumors, this will allow Rockstar to change and adjust GTA 6's world map frequently, much like live service games regularly mix things up.
Although other rumors suggested that GTA 6 would take place in the 1980s, reporter Tom Henderson denied this claim and said that the game would actually take place in a modern version of Vice City. In terms of playable characters, it is suggested that Rockstar will feature multiple playable characters starting with GTA 5, a much-praised storytelling tool at the time. In GTA 5, the three main characters - Trevor, Michael and Franklin - were all men. However, rumors indicate that at least one of the characters in GTA 6 will be female.
The massive GTA 6 leak appears to back up at least some of the claims; that is, the game may take place in a modern version of Victy City and feature multiple playable characters.
Some of the other rumors about GTA 6 are that the game may be released on a PS5-specific schedule – this would be a huge development, but it wouldn't be surprising. GTA and PlayStation have already been partnered for some time, and in the age of exclusive content, Sony paying Rockstar for some sort of exclusivity would continue that trend.
