Sony announced that the Horizon Forbidden West game will officially come to PC in 2024. This port of the Horizon Zero Dawn sequel will be available as a complete release package, including Horizon Forbidden West and the Burning Shores expansion, as well as a few extras. Before it comes to PC, PS5 owners will be able to purchase Horizon Forbidden West: Complete Edition on October 5.
Set shortly after the events of Horizon Zero Dawn and the Frozen Wilds expansion, Forbidden West pitted protagonist Aloy against newer and deadlier foes as she explored a new frontier to save the planet's biosphere from a strange disease affecting both living and robotic organisms. Burning Shores expanded on this story with new factions, an adventure through the ruins of Los Angeles, and a romance for Aloy to pursue.
Sony's Nixxes studio is developing the port of Forbidden West and has added the following extras to the package. This bundle will be sold for $5 on PS60 and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store:
- Horizon forbidden west
- Burning Shores DLC
- digital music
- digital art book
- Horizon Zero Dawn Volume 1: The Sunhawk digital comic
- In-game items:
- Extras in Photo Mode (special pose and face paint)
- Carja Behemoth Elite outfit and bow
- Nora Thunder Elite outfit and sling
- Apex Clawstrider Machine Strike part
- resource pack
Forbidden West received generally positive reviews upon its initial release. Released earlier this year, Burning Shores follows Forbidden West with an easily digestible story. It received similarly positive reviews for its beautifully realized post-apocalyptic version of Los Angeles and for expanding it with interesting new characters. While no firm release date has been set for the PC port of Forbidden West other than “early 2024,” this release falls within the two-year window Sony typically employs for its first-party games when they arrive on PC.
Sony has stated that it expects to make $2024 million from PC games by March 450, and the release of Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition could help the company reach that goal. As for the future of Franchise, fans can expect plenty of Horizon content in the future. Guerrilla confirmed in April that a sequel to Horizon Forbidden West was in development, and a number of cross-media projects will expand the franchise, including a rumored Horizon Zero Dawn remaster for PS5, a Netflix TV series adaptation, and an MMO spinoff.
