The RMRs have ended with many disappointments that have left deadly rosters like G2 and Astralis in the dust, and the IEM Rio Major 2022 Challengers stage includes some new faces to test out the best teams. Unexpected rosters like GamerLegion and Bad News Eagles pushed the best teams to their limits and qualified to challenge them.
The team roster for the IEM Rio Major, the first Valve-sponsored CS:GO event held in Brazil, was set on October 9, following the conclusion of the Regional Major Ranking (RMR) tournaments.
Rio is ready for an exciting big knockout tournament and all teams are battling to advance to the Champions stage, the final game series before the playoffs.
The Counter-Strike Major has a massive $1,25 million prize pool, and 16 teams will see who comes out victorious in the end.
Teams need to get past the Challengers stage before they can get excited about the future of the main event.

- Vitality vs. Imperial
- EG vs. IHC
- Cloud9 vs. fnatic
- BIG vs. FURIA
- Bad News Eagles vs. 00 NATION
- MOUZ vs. outsiders
- 9z vs. GamerLegion
The first matches will start on 31 October and will continue until 3 November. All Counter-Strike teams with three victories will advance to the next stage of the major and the others will be eliminated from the Rio tournament.
