The New Xbox Update Will Let You Open a Discord Broadcast. Xbox voice reporting comes with a new way to pair accessories with the console.
Microsoft is rolling out a new Xbox control panel for September that includes the ability to stream your Xbox game to your Discord friends and variable refresh rate (VRR) improvements for Xbox Series S/X consoles. The dashboard update also includes the new Xbox voice reporting feature and a new way to pair accessories with Xbox consoles.
The updated Discord functionality means you can now broadcast your game to anyone on Discord. This feature is in the Parties and Chats section of the dashboard, and a new “cast your game” option now appears when you connect to a Discord server. This feature, where you can customize your broadcast quality, will catch up with Starfield's release tomorrow.
However, this Discord streaming feature is one-way only, so you cannot view the streams of your PC friends broadcasting on Discord. Microsoft first rolled out a basic version of Discord on Xbox in September, and improved Discord in November to allow Xbox users to connect directly to Discord audio channels without the need for a phone.
VRR is also in development on Xbox Series S/X consoles. You can now choose to enable VRR only while gaming or keep the feature enabled all the time. This is useful if you're using an Xbox Series S/X for entertainment apps that may not always play well with VRR.
Microsoft is also starting to roll out the new Xbox voice reporting feature that it announced in July. Xbox players in the US, UK, Canada, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand can now send 60-second audio clips of inappropriate voice chat messages, which will then be reviewed by the Xbox security team.
If you've always wanted to add a new controller or accessory without leaving your couch, there's also a new way to pair accessories without having to press the Xbox pairing button. Once you go to the Xbox Accessories app and use the new “connect a device” option, Xbox will now pair automatically.
Finally, the last big addition to the Xbox dashboard this month is that you can now request game invites from a friend. Profiles now have a new "ask to join game" option and friends can reply with a game invite, party invite or message.
