For the first time since November 2021, Riot Games shared new information about the upcoming fighting game Project L in a dev diary published by project leaders and the fighting game community (FGC). Among the new information is Illaoi, the Kraken Priestess, who has been introduced as a playable fighter.
According to Cannon, the team is wrapping up work on core mechanics and gameplay by focusing on building the game's playable champion roster, competitive mode, and social systems-related features.
The team also completes its goal of removing many barriers to entry by making Project L game completely free. In short, it will not have a pay-to-win logic in Project L like League of Legends or VALORANT, which are Riot Games' other games. He will try to spin the wheel with in-game items (costumes etc).
“One of our goals is to remove as many obstacles as possible for you to enjoy Project L. We want you to be able to play no matter where you live, no matter what your skill level or how much money you have to spend on a game.” said.
No updates regarding the Project L release date have been shared, but as the team said in their latest update, an official release date for the game is not expected in the near future.
Riot Games has been very discreet and withheld details about Project L, the eponymous 2D fighting game that has been in development for several years. However, with the announcement of the new information we mentioned above, the game seems to be very close to the end.
